Sri Ramakrishna Seva Samithi

Introduction

Sri Ramakrishna Seva Samithi is a service organization located in Bapatla, Andhra Pradesh, founded in 1970. The Samithi was established with the inspiration of the monks of the Ramakrishna Order. It is dedicated to nurturing the holistic development of the community, focusing particularly on educational programs, health and fitness initiatives, and cultural events aimed at nurturing young minds. All activities of the organization are carried out entirely by volunteers.

Founder

The Samithi was founded by Sri BSR Anjaneyulu garu.

Vision and Mission

The organization continues to work by upholding the core ideal given by Swami Vivekananda:

“Atmano mokshartham jagaddhitayacha”—“For the liberation of oneself and for the welfare of the world!”

Activities

The Sri Ramakrishna Seva Samithi conducts a wide array of activities to support children, youth, and the community:

Educational and Youth Development

• Balavihar & Tuitions: Daily Moral classes, Free Evening Tuitions, and online programs for students.
• Competitions: Organizing Vivekananda-themed competitions, including Vivekananda-Run, Vivekananda-Yoga, and Vivekananda-Cultural Competitions, to unite communities and encourage wellness.
• Skills Training: Conducting vocational courses like Tailoring, and physical training such as Karate and MallaKhamb.

Health, Wellness, and Service

• Yoga: Offering free daily online yoga classes and certificate courses.
• Nutrition: Providing healthy nutritional food in the evening to the approximately 50 children who attend the Samithi daily.
• Service Activities: Regularly conducting afforestation drives, monthly free health camps (including Homeo camps), rural works, and Annadanam (food donation).
• Support for Needy Children: Supplying notebooks and other educational materials, and caring for the examination fees for some children.

Cultural and Spiritual

• Music: Conducting classes for Carnatic music, including singing and mastering the Mridangam.
• Publications: Dedicated to the publication of books since its inception. These valuable literature resources are available in hard copy format at Ramakrishna Math and Mission centers across Andhra Pradesh.
• Spiritual: Conducting prayer meetings, spiritual retreats, daily bhajans, study circles, and facilitating visits from Swamijis for personalized guidance.

Achievements

The Samithi has undertaken significant projects over the years, demonstrating its commitment to community welfare:

• Sarada Puri Reconstruction (1977): In collaboration with the Ramakrishna Mission, the Samithi reconstructed the village of Sarada Puri after a severe cyclone in November 1977. This project involved building one hundred houses, a cyclone shelter, and a Poleramma temple, all of which remain standing and occupied.
• Golden Jubilee Vivekananda Bhavan (2020): To expand activities for children and youth, the Samithi constructed and inaugurated the Golden Jubilee Vivekananda Bhavan on January 1, 2020. The building features a large auditorium (named after the founder, Sri BSR Anjaneyulu garu), halls for yoga practice, training in soft skills, and a gymnasium.
